VDR Data Recording and Playback Kit

The VDR data recording and playback software system along with other kits developed by OSI not only have helped VDR makers quickly obtain type-approval certificate without major in house R&D effort, but also offered real-time capability beyond the IMO's minimum recording functions to differentiate their products. Utilizing the latest Microsoft's Windows Client-Server technology, this software kit has evolved into a sophisticated shipboard application. Some highlights are:

  • Uses Commercial-off-the-shelf  components

  • The COTS software and hardware reduces initial acquisition cost of the VDR as well as the inventory and maintenance cost. These parts are available worldwide, mostly in-stock items.

  • Opto-isolated and flexible data acquisition of serial, analog and digital inputs

  • For new-building or retrofit ships, this flexible network based data acquisition system can handle hundreds of input without external conversion boxes.  Signal conditioning modules allow almost all conceivable input formats, plus OPTO-isolation so that any fault developed by either connected sensors or VDR will not affect their respective normal operations.

  • Modular Approach to audio/video recording keep cost low yet easy to expand

  • Our unique approach using standard audio/video components keeps cost low and easily expandable to large number of microphones and multiple VHF as well as radar inputs.

  • Client-Server based software allows expansion Non standard messages can be added on the VDR Server without changing the playback program which can also access information on the Server in real-time or download files remotely.  Playback program with Multi-Language support can show ship's track, conning display, alarm, door status, as well as hear audio and view radar images. Many applications are being developed for future applications at customers' requests.

Whether you have a specific application request or thinking of developing the second generation VDR, please contact us for discussion on future business co-operations.
