  Motion Monitoring System

With timely warning of synchronous/parametric motion events, risk of losing containers overboard and other heavy weather related damages can be minimized. OSI has developed a cost-effective Motion Sensor to provide real-time ship/platform motion data to warn the bridge officer on duty of impending danger due to excessive vessel motions.

Our self-contained (no need for external power) solid-state multi-axis motion sensor continuously monitors ship motions and send the data to a PC via a USB port connection. A Windows-based program displays the time history of the motions in a strip chart format. Real-time spectral analysis is also performed to estimate the characteristic parameters for estimating motion periods and  predicting maximums using theory of Stochastic Process. An alarm will sound if predicted motions exceed user-specified Safe Operating Limits or if Synchronous/Parametric motion events are detected.
